Befriending Your Nervous System - October 21st and 28th

Your autonomic nervous system is amazing.  It does so much with very little conscious input from you.  Your heart beats; you inhale and exhale; you notice that you are hungry; you notice that you are satiated; you feel tired and then you rest.  That is your system at work.  In addition, it also keeps you safe and alive.   

Understanding and attuning to your nervous system can assist you in handling conflict, leaving risky situations, identifying your feelings, and in making decisions. Understanding your system allows you to develop autonomic agility, the ability to recognize which physiological state you are operating in and to move into a state of greater calm, connection, and safety.

In this two-part program we will explore how your nervous system responds including what beliefs, triggers, and parts of yourself are present. You will discover how protective your system actually is even when you may not like how you are feeling. You will gain evidence-based practices to move into a state of safety and social engagement.

‍Befriending your nervous system enhances your resilience, self-trust, and self-compassion. It also means you can be that safe place to land for those you care about. ‍
