Do Less. Nourish More.
/I recently attended an online course on making broth with Mitten Lowe, and it was fascinating. The course went beyond recipes, although those were terrific. Mitten (yes, that is really her name!) talked about nourishment and how healing is supported by the parasympathetic nervous system.
This is another reason why staying steady [having the skills to anchor yourself in a state of safety and social connection] is so valuable.
When you stay steady, you are returning to the parasympathetic nervous system and to a physiological state of safety, connection, and social engagement. That is the state in which you learn, graciously repair upsets, heal, and grow.
Nourishment is not simply about food, although healthy food, like Mitten’s broth, is nourishing. Sleep is nourishment. Walking in nature is nourishment. Being with the people you love is nourishment as is having a vulnerable, meaningful conversation. Reading, traveling, and slowing down are nourishment.
Mitten talked about how we do so much. Her recommendation was to focus on nourishing more rather than doing more.
I recommend it, too!
I invite you to spend the next week noticing how you nourish yourself. Do less, nourish more! Stay Steady!
